How to create a multi-group

This guide is for anyone who looks after groups and wants a straightforward way to reach more than one of them at a time.

Create your multi-group

1. Start a new multi-group.
2. Give it a name people will recognise at a glance.
3. Create it. Your new multi-group appears in your list straight away.

Add the details

Select your new multi-group, then open its management options. Everything here is optional, so add what helps and skip what does not.

1. Add a subtitle to give a bit more context under the name.
2. Add a description explaining who it reaches and what gets sent through it.
3. Set it to expire if it only needs to run for a season or a single project. Leave expiry off if it should carry on indefinitely.

Connect your groups

A multi-group does nothing until you connect groups to it. This is the step that decides who your messages reach.

1. Open the Connected Groups tab.
2. Choose to add groups.
3. Select the groups you want to send to. You can select more than one at a time, so add them all in one go.

For example, you might connect a leaders group and a pastoral chat, so both receive the same message without you sending it twice. Once you have added them, they show in the Connected Groups list.

You can return to this tab whenever things change, whether that means connecting another group or removing one that no longer needs to be there. If the group you want does not exist yet, create the group first and then connect it. It helps to know the different types of groups before you decide what to connect.

What you have now

You have a multi-group with a name, the details that give it context, and the groups you want to reach connected underneath it.

You can now send one message and have it land with every connected group, rather than posting the same thing in each chat.
